Insurance for Wigs
COVERAGE STARTS HERE ⬇️
Losing your hair, whether it’s medically induced or genetically inherited, can be one of the hardest challenges to face. At DD Daughters Lace Wig Beautique, we’re here to tell you that you have options—and your beauty is custom to YOU! 💕 Rock your royal crown with confidence because you deserve it.
Did you know that insurance can cover the cost of your medical wig? Many people don’t! Cancer, alopecia, and other conditions can lead to hair loss, but that doesn’t mean you have to go without a solution that works for YOU.
Here’s the difference:
• A medical wig is custom-fitted for maximum comfort, natural illusion, and high-quality design tailored to your condition.
• A cosmetic wig might look nice but doesn’t provide the personalized benefits a medical wig offers.
At DD Daughters Lace Wig Beautique, we provide both—but we specialize in medical wigs that combine function and fashion for your unique needs.

At D.D. Daughters Lace Wig Beautique, we understand that navigating the insurance process for medical wigs can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to guide you every step of the way and take care of the process on your behalf.
Here’s what you need to know:
Step 1: Obtain a Medical Diagnosis
The first step is to secure a clear medical diagnosis from your dermatologist or physician.
• This diagnosis must state that you have a medical condition, such as alopecia (be sure the type is specified, e.g., Alopecia Areata or Alopecia Totalis) or cancer treatments, that has resulted in hair loss.
• It is critical that the diagnosis is detailed and specific.
Step 2: Request a Prescription for a Cranial Prosthesis
Your doctor must write a prescription specifically for a “cranial prosthesis.”
• Many insurance companies will not recognize the term “wig,” so it’s important that the prescription uses the correct terminology.
Step 3: Book Your Consultation with Our Cranial Prosthesis Specialist
Schedule an appointment with us for a custom fitting of your medical wig.
• During this consultation, we will assist in selecting the best cranial prosthesis for your needs.
• We’ll also provide a detailed estimate of costs.
Step 4: Let Us Handle the Claim Submission
D.D. Daughters Lace Wig Beautique will submit your insurance claim directly to your insurance provider.
• We’ll prepare and submit all the necessary documentation, including an itemized receipt with a medical code that identifies the product as a cranial prosthesis, not a cosmetic wig.
• This ensures that your insurance provider processes the claim correctly.
Step 5: Payment or Reimbursement
Once we’ve submitted the claim:
• If your insurance company pays upfront, you will receive your cranial prosthesis with little to no out-of-pocket costs.
• If the claim is not paid upfront, you may need to purchase the unit first, and we will guide you through the reimbursement process with your insurance provider.
Important Notes:
• While many insurance companies cover a substantial portion of the cost for a cranial prosthesis, the exact coverage depends on your specific plan.
• We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider before your consultation to understand your benefits and coverage.
